Supporting education and nutrition among children living in Quera, Peru.
The Chaîne’s charitable association – l’Association Caritative de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs (ACCR) – is supporting a project to improve education and nutrition among children living in Quera, Peru.
The project was established by Senzaconfini, an Italian non-Governmental organisation, which built a boarding school in San Sebastian de Quera to allow children living far from the town to attend school (free for the most disadvantaged children).
The ACCR funded the setting up of the kitchen and sponsors free meals for the 60 children attending the classes.
Furthermore, the ACCR is supporting a programme of training courses on how to eat properly for 30 young mothers as well as the 60 young students. A big problem in Peru, especially for the poorest children, is an inadequate diet leading to undernourishment. This arises from irregular availability of basic foodstuffs coupled with a lack of knowledge of many young women regarding proper feeding and correct diets for their children.
