Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition

Message from Brenan Madill, Canada’s competitor in the 2013 International Final

David Tétrault, Chairman of the International Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition Committee, Member of the Conseil d’Administration & Bailli Délégué of Canada, wishes to give wider exposure to this message received from Brenan Madill, Canada’s competitor in the International Final held in Istanbul on September 6, 2013.

David commented that receiving such a message makes it all worthwhile: the months of planning with the long hours and the long trips culminating in a 4am start on the morning of the Competition followed by the euphoria of the Awards Ceremony in the evening. And then the process starts over again for the next year…!

Brenan Madill wrote:

To the Members of the National Council and the Provincial and local Bailliages, their organizers and representatives, I would like to start out by thanking you all for the once in life time experience I was granted by the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.

Words can not explain the amount of knowledge, friends and colleagues I have gained throughout my road to Turkey and the experience I have gained along the way.

The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs organization has granted me a life time unforgettable experience which I will cherish for the rest of my culinary career.

On my road to Turkey I was given so much support from National, Provincial and even local colleagues and members and I would like to give my sincere thanks and gratitude for all that everyone has done for me.

I will always hold the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs organization as the most professional and well established organization I have been a part of. It was great to see such a large amount of people support me and all other young chefs on the road to better their careers. It is so rare to see the level of respect and honour an organization has for young chefs and the culinary industry as a whole.

The opportunity this competition gives young chefs is second to none and has allowed me the experience to meet other individuals in my career with all sorts of different backgrounds and levels of experience. I now have connections to 20 other individuals from all around the world who have represented their respective countries and who are obviously at the top of their careers. This is something more valuable than money in this career.

I have also learned a lot about myself along the road to Turkey. Things to improve on as an individual as well as a chef. Being surrounded by other chefs and culinary individuals has allowed me to here their opinions and their different views of food and allowed me to better myself and raise myself to a much higher level than I could have ever imagined.

I would once again like to thank you for all your support and the level of professionalism throughout this process and for granting me an unforgettable experience.

Thank you so much.
