Philippines Dinner

Cebu City, December 6, 2011

To conclude the programme of events for 2011, the Bailliage of Cebu held its traditional end of year Gala Dinner in the Ballroom of the Marco Polo Hotel at Cebu City. Over 100 members and guests attended; in accordance with the dress code, the gentlemen wore black-tie and the ladies were in long evening gowns.

On entering the Ballroom there were many ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ at the magnificent Festive decorations as well as at the two long tables stretching the length of the room. The evening was themed on “The Clockwork Princess” – the third in the trilogy by Cassandra Clare. Subtitled “An Illuminating Christmas Journey – a Musical”, the performance under the direction of Alexander Uypanco was spectacular.

The Marco Polo’s Executive Chef, Luke Gagnon, Maître Rôtisseur, and the kitchen brigade prepared the superb courses which were skilfully served by the numerous members of the service brigade.

When the time came for the acknowledge-ments, General Manager Hans Hauri, Officier Maître Hôtelier, was heartily congratulated on behalf of his team for the setting, dinner and entertainment, all of which had been six months in the planning.

Come midnight and with the dinner concluded, Michel Lhuillier, Member of the Conseil Magistral, Bailli Délégué, and Bailli Amparito Lhuillier, enthusiastically led the dancing until the early hours of the morning.
