Great Britain Grand Chapitre

London, October 3-6, 2013

The 54th Grand Chapitre of the Bailliage of Grande-Bretagne took place in London, the country’s capital city.

Host hotel for the weekend was the four-star Lancaster London situated on Lancaster Terrace. With Hyde Park, the largest of the Royal Parks, directly to the south, and vistas east to the City of London, the hotel arguably has the best views in London. Hotel Manager, Maître Hôtelier Sally Beck and her team made everyone most welcome.

The programme of activities started on the Thursday with visits to the Globe Theatre and Tower Bridge, followed by dinner at The Don in the City of London.

Friday was a very special day with a tour of the Palace of Westminster and lunch on the House of Lords Terrace – something not available to members of the public.

In the the evening the formal Dinner of Welcome was held at the five-star Corinthia Hotel. Hotel Director Maître Hotelier Renaud Gregoire and his staff regally entertained us.

As is now customary for the Bailliage, the Induction Ceremony took place on the Saturday morning. This year it was in St Clement Danes Church by courtesy of the Chaplin General of the Royal Air Force. Klaus Tritschler, Member of the Conseil d’Administration from Germany presided over the ceremony.

The Gala Dinner was held at the Lancaster London where Executive Chef Maître Rôtisseur Eibhear Coyle devised an interesting and delightful menu.

Concluding the programme, the farewell lunch was enjoyed to the sounds of a jazz band aboard a river cruiser whilst sailing along the River Thames from the Houses of Parliament to Greenwich and back.
