Monaco Country-style dinner

The members of the Confrérie met at the organic farm run by Pierre and Anne Magnani for an enjoyable evening for food lovers. Approximately fifty of them travelled to the hill of Saquier arriving at 6.30 pm for a drink prior to a tour of the farm led by Pierre Magnani.

From bed to bed the visitors discovered the astonishing collection of citrus fruit and aromatic plants, the 80 varieties of brightly coloured tomatoes as well as the large number of gourds that had spread over all the available frames.

The sensory walk whetted the appetite before returning to the tropical greenhouse where the food was being prepared. David Faure, the chef at the Restaurant L’Aphrodite and Philippe Joannès, the chef at Fairmont Monte-Carlo, were both involved in the evening having set up the barbecue for the grilled food. The live music was provided by a great duo of guitarists The Cards, alias Johnny and Pierre. A complete change of scenery from the centre of Nice!

The delicious dinner commenced with a house aperitif and vegetable canapés. Superb tomato salads were displayed on banana tree leaves followed by fillet of duck breast, pluma de pata negra (Spanish pork), marinated chicken and pieces of beef cooked to perfection, all accompanied by a red and rosé Château La Bernarde. For dessert, the charlotte made with wild Mara strawberries picked that very morning was a perfect ending to the dinner and anyone with a passion for music joined Johnny and Pierre to listen to a repertoire ranging from Cat Stevens to Nino Ferrer via the Beatles and George Gershwin.

Spending the entire evening under the stars, the members of the Bailliage were delighted to devote themselves to one of the principles of their charter: the celebration of their passion for fine food and fine wines.
