Portugal Lunch

Alporchinhos (Porches), September 13, 2014

Bailliage of Algarve experiences the Ocean at Vila Vita Parc

An exceptional lunch was held at Vila Vita Parc’s shining 2 Michelin-starred Ocean Restaurant. There are just a few restaurants in Europe that do not require an introduction, and “Ocean” is one of them.

With the generous agreement of our confrère, Bailli Honoraire Kurt Gillig, General Manager of Vila Vita Parc, the restaurant was opened especially for this lunchtime event.

Executive Chef Hans Neuner, Sous-chef Florain Ruhlman and their kitchen brigade created a fantastic menu for us.

Hans was born in the Austrian Tyrol. The son and grandson of cooks, from a very young age he was engaged in the professional kitchen. Having worked in prestigious establishments in Germany and Spain, in 2007 he was invited to head up the kitchen of the Ocean restaurant at Vila Vita Parc Resort & Spa. In 2009 he achieved his first Michelin star. The second one followed two years later.

The Ocean Restaurant has a strong identity displayed in the cooking: innovative and thoroughly modern yet true to the principles that Hans Neuner and his young team have been building on. These principles are all about giving the food a strong sense of place, playing on Portuguese and especially Algarvean flavours and elevating them to new heights. This lunch was certainly first hand evidence of this for the members of the Bailliage of Algarve and their guests.
