Sri Lanka Weekend

Cape Weligama, November 22-23, 2014

Memorable weekend of beach luxury

Where trade winds carried legendary explorers like Marco Polo, Ibn Battuta and Fa-Hsien past Sri Lanka’s soaring southern cliffs on some of history’s most celebrated nautical journeys, the Cape Weligama Resort lies on the fabled island’s palm-fringed shores.

Thirty minutes east of Galle, it occupies 12 manicured acres atop a singular promontory rising above the Indian Ocean. The unique position of Cape Weligama gives the Resort’s Chefs access to the best of the day’s catch and the freshest of home-grown produce.

Elevating luxury to a new realm, Cape Weligama is Sri Lanka’s latest star on the southern coast. A member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux collection of gourmet restaurants, boutique hotels, resorts and villas, the Resort welcomed 56 Members of the Bailliage of Sri Lanka to a ‘weekend of beach luxury’.

The spectacular property offered the group the complete experience in ultimate pampering, with luxury accommodation by way of private retreats, stunning panoramas and picture postcard perfect beaches.

The culinary high point of the weekend was the dinner on the Saturday evening. The dress code for the evening was ‘tropical wear’ with Chaîne ribbons. Peter Kuruvita, celebrity award-winning Chef, Restaurateur and TV Presenter, was flown in from Melbourne especially for the event by our hosts, the owners of the amazing luxury resort.
