Egypt Gala Dinner

New Year celebrations are one of the highlights of Cairo’s calendar. The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs always excels at capturing the spirit of sharing and celebrating typical of this time of year.

This year the Conrad Hotel was the venue, with all the style and honour that it always bestows on the Chaîne.



Elegantly dressed for the evening, the guests were led on to the hotel terrace for a Christmas market experience with roasted chestnuts and a glass of either sparkling white wine or mulled wine. The doors then opened to reveal a magnificently decorated room in the middle of which a platform hinted at the fantastic evening that lay ahead.

Chancelier Karim Henein, a Member of the Conseil d'Administration, began the evening on a reassuring note, announcing that our Bailli Délégué Yves Pharès, who had recently been hospitalised, was on the road to recovery.



A menu especially prepared for the occasion by Michelin-starred Chef Thierry Verrat was presented to us and stimulated our taste buds even before the dishes were served.

As with every Chaîne dinner, the magical dance of the waiting staff began around the 150 guests. A gifts-laden Father Christmas made a surprise appearance during a musical interlude. Ihab Shawi, one of our most loyal friends (and soon to be a Chevalier member), impressed us with his jazz repertoire to the great delight of the ladies and the appreciation of the gentlemen.

A raffle and some dancing brought this unforgettable dinner to an end.
