To welcome the New Year the Bailliage organised its annual New Year’s cake-cutting ceremony and gastronomic dinner in the magnificent ballroom of the Hotel Grande-Bretagne.

Known for its eternal elegance at the heart of Europe's historic capital, the Hotel Grande-Bretagne has breath-taking views of the fabled Acropolis, regal Syntagma Square and the Parliament, lush Lycabettus Hill or the original Olympic Stadium. The multi-awarded 5-star establishment thus offers an unrivalled perspective of Athens' mythical history.

The formal dinner was a creation of the hotel’s Executive Chef Sotiris Evaggelou who is a Professional member of the Chaîne. The menu was an excellent gastronomic delight of six courses. Each one was matched with a fine Greek wine.

Even though the event was held on a Wednesday the large number of members and friends of the Bailliage in attendance was evidence of the excellent support that the Bailliage’s events receive.

At the end of the evening a draw was held with the lucky prize-winner receiving a rare 18th century silver coin.
