Sweden - Per Bengtsson

Maître Restaurateur

PM & Vänner, a night of celebration at the 2015 White Guide Gala

During the White Guide Gala on March 9th at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm, PM & Vänner rose one place on this year's White Guide list, making it now Sweden's eighth best restaurant. Its new position also secured the restaurant a place in the guide's prestigious "International Master" section, making it the only Småland restaurant in this category.

At the gala PM & Vänner's Founder and Creative Director Per Bengtsson [ photo right (c) Marcus Möller ] was awarded Årets Hyllning av en Långtida Betydelsefull Gastronomisk Gärning (2015 tribute for a long and meaningful contribution to gastronomy). For many years he has developed a clear and consistent line in gastronomy, which has substantially helped to enrich Sweden's food culture.

The award is a collaboration between the White Guide and Visita - the Swedish Tourism board. Said the jury, "Established by a rare enthusiastic and unrelenting gastronomic act that resonated across all borders, Per has created a complete gastro-hotel, like a culinary fortress in the former garrison town."

Upon receiving his award, Per Bengtsson stated “I am very happy, it's an honour to receive this award, especially when you see who has received the previous ones. At the same time, I want to pay tribute to the entire team at PM & Vänner and to my business partner Monica Carlsson, who has been with us since day one.”

Conseiller Culinaire Catarina Offe commented: “This is wonderful news! Per Bengtsson has been a Professional member of the Bailliage of Sweden for many years. He has always been very supportive, especially to me, with advice and background information on members old and new. Equally he is always involved to a greater or lesser extent with the national Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition, even if like all our best chefs, he is exceptionally occupied with his business activities.”
