Bailliage of Kanto

Following the second in the series of five Chapitres being the Bailliage of Tohuku event in Sendai on February 17th (unfortunately no photos are available), the third one was the General Assembly & Gala Dinner of the Bailliage of Kanto in Tokyo held at the Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel.

The Cerulean Tower skyscraper is the tallest near Tokyo’s Shibuya station. The building, constructed principally from steel and glass, was completed in 2001. It is 184 metres high and has 41 floors as well as 6 underground floors. Its lower floors are devoted to office space with the 411-room Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel on the upper levels affording its guests fine views across the city and beyond to Mount Fuji in particular.

In his capacity as a Member of the Conseil d’Administration, our own Bailli Délégué Saihei Makinami presided over the Induction Ceremony.

The Gala Dinner began with a traditional toast proposed by Bailli Provincial Yukio Hattori. Dr (of medicine) Hattori is a well-known and respected food commentator. He has received numerous awards from the French government for his significant contribution to the development of French cuisine in Japan.

Conseiller Culinaire Provincial Nobuhiko Fukuda, the hotel’s Executive Chef, presented a menu showcasing French cuisine in a new style. It was very popular with the members and guests who had the delightful opportunity of enjoying culinary delicacies ingeniously prepared and presented.
