Liechtenstein Informal Events

Malbun & Schaan, March 3 & 31, 2015

Chaîne newcomer Martha Bühler treated the members of our Bailliage to an evening of Liechtenstein specialities in the ski resort of Malbun.

Of course there was champagne to start. Most of the members and guests preferred the warmth of a mulled wine as the aperitif was celebrated at the Snow Bar – by moonlight and with the temperature a few degrees below freezing!

Despite the fairy-tale atmosphere, our rosy cheeks became ever rosier and it was without further ado that we moved indoors when “à table, chers amis !” was heard. The group were in awe when they saw the beautifully-renovated barn furnished in the traditional country style.

The main course of the evening was Martha’s renowned cheese dumplings – arguably the best in the world. Martha and her colleague Andrea Kader tantalised our taste buds, and no one really wanted to go home. Bailli Délégué Daniel Jäggi praised the two ladies’ fantastic performance and expressed the wish that he would have nothing against many more such beautiful evenings in such a cosy setting.

The Bailliage visited the Liechtensteiner Brauhaus in Schaan owned by member Bruno Güntensperger.

After a tour of the brewery and expert explanations given by the Master Brewer, there was of course plenty of beer to be tasted. Our expert Sommelier Sandra Klotz provided professional insights into the special beers and rounded off her part of the evening with an entertaining beer quiz.

Naturally, you simply cannot taste beer on an empty stomach and this is where Chef Rôtisseur Oliver Klotz and Chef Rôtisseur Horst Schmidle came in for their menu provided a hearty basis for the beer tasting.

There was a good turn-out and Bailli Délégué Daniel Jäggi spoke on behalf of the group, thanking everyone involved for a great event. Beer and ‘eggstra’ large Easter eggs were presented as a thank you.
