Portugal Book Launch

Lisbon, October 26, 2012

The launch of the book of poems ‘Narrar em Português – Poemas Seleccionados’ was included on the second day of the programme of the Bailliage of Portugal’s 2012 Grand Chapitre. It was held at the Hotel Altis Belém, Lisbon, followed by a Michelin-starred dinner.

The book is a selection of poems by Professor Moshé Liba (a member in the Netherlands), as well as two unpublished poems by Dr. Fernando Messias, Bailli of Greater Lisbon, namely ‘Edinburgh Waters’ (‘Águas de Edimburgo’) and ‘A Word Like the World’ (‘Uma Palavra como o Mundo’), which pay homage to the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.

Some 30 members and guests attended the launch including the Grand Chapitre’s Presiding Officer, Tal Gal Cohen, Member of the Conseil Magistral from Israel. Unfortunately his health prevented Professor Liba from being present. However, he had sent a personal message to be read out.

Aníbal Soares, Member of the Conseil Magistral, Bailli Délégué, then read out a personal message of support sent by International Vice-President Marie Jones. Dr. Pina de Carvalho, a member of the Bailliage of Greater Lisbon Bailliage concluded the formalities by reciting the poem ‘La Chaîne des Poétés’.

The proceeds of the sale of the book in Portugal will go to support the work of the Évora Gastronomy School.

Vive la Chaîne!
