Denmark Wine Tasting

Frederiksburg, January 11, 2012

The Bailliage of Selandia held its first event of the year with a visit to Denmark's Revymuseet (Revue Theatre Museum) in Frederiksberg. The event was organised under the auspices of the Ordre Mondial, specifically by Echanson Per Pallesen, and Vice-Echanson Jens Stefen Hansen.

Revue theatre is still a very popular art form in Denmark, underpinned by the Danes love of black or dry humour. The museum tells the story of the art, from its early beginnings 200 years ago to today's stand-up comedians, whose numbers include Per Pallesen, our Echanson!

Thirty-two members were given an informative and humorous talk by the museum's director, Erik Hvidt, followed by some short video clips of famous acts of yesteryear.

There followed a wine tasting with commentary by Vice-Echanson Jens Stefen Hansen. Seven wines were tasted from the Aurora Winery, situated in the Aurora Valley in the southern Brazilian state
of Rio Grande do Sul.

The wines tasted were:

- Espumante Chardonnay Brut
- Varietal Chardonnay
- Reserva Chardonnay
- Varietal Pinot Noir
- Varietal Merlot
- Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon
- Espumante Moscatel

All were well received. A delicious finger buffet completed the presentation.

It was a most enjoyable evening with much laughter and camaraderie, during which Bailli Mette McIsaac took the opportunity to introduce the new officers of the Bailliage of Selandia to the assembled members.
