Bailliage of Rome Aurora

Celebrating Easter and Solidarity with the Bailliage of Rome Urbe

The Bailliage of Rome Aurora is led by Bailli Adele Mazzotta-Lax. Its membership of approximately 50 is unique being totally female. Just before Easter, to celebrate the coming festivities the ‘Aurora’ ladies held an inter-Bailliage dinner in the famous Hotel Aleph Boscolo. Their consœurs and confrères from the Bailliage of Rome Urbe were delighted to be part of the event.

Both Baillis – Adele Lax and Luigi Mannucci – very much wanted to share the values of the Chaîne. In particular joy, friendship, co-operation and togetherness provided a perfect foil for the occasion. Anna Accalai, Chargé de Missions, was equally enthusiastic for the event to take place.

In their opening words the Baillis suggested that the principles of the recently-elected Pope Francesco, such as tenderness and peace, also had great importance for the Chaîne.

Adele Zannoni Messina, a Vatican lawyer, presented a report about the new Pope with some interesting and little known stories about him as well as the new direction of the Catholic Church.

The selected wines of the Cantina Rocca delle Macie were described by the Vice-Echanson Clara Montesano Pillot.

Together with the words of welcome there was a fresh-tasting Franciacorta Brut to give added sparkle to the occasion.

The menu and wines for creatively Easter-themed dinner were:

Chocolate and pepper cream with a soft-cooked egg and porcini mushrooms
- Vernaccia di San Gimignano 2012

Pasta with asparagus, roasted cherry tomatoes and crispy bacon
- Sauvignon 2012

Rack of lamb with puréed potatoes and Jerusalem artichokes

- Chianti Classico 2010, Tenuta Sant’Alfonso

Sformata di Colomba (a traditional Italian Easter cake) with chocolate cream and orange coulis
- Vin Santo del Chianti 2007

An important moment of solidarity brought the evening to an end with the sale of colourful Easter eggs by La Luisa, a high quality chocolatier. The funds raised were dedicated to Nadia Accetti’s DonaDonna Onlus Association which works to prevent eating disorders.
