Finland Grand Chapitre

Naantali, March 15-16, 2013

The Bailliage of Turku had the honour of organising this 50th Chapitre in Naantali, a city in south-western Finland, known as one of the most important tourist centres of the country.

Being very luxurious establishment used to arranging this kind of celebration, The Naantali Spa Hotel was the perfect choice for the host hotel. On top of this we were blessed with glorious sunshine thus guaranteeing that everyone would enjoy their visit to Naantali.

The hotel’s guest accommodation is generously proportioned. A total of 390 rooms and suites are located in the original Spa Hotel, in the neighbouring Suite Hotel, on board the magnificent Sunborn Yacht Hotel and in the new Naantali Spa Residence.

The opening dinner on the Friday night was held in the Sunborn Yacht Hotel’s à la carte restaurant. There we had the great pleasure of dining on delicious cured sea trout with pickled cucumber and fillet of venison, with Savoy cabbage and dark cep sauce, to mention but two of the courses.

The 50th Chapitre in the history of the Bailliage of Finland was celebrated by some 190 members and guests. Fifty of them were inducted in a most professional yet charismatic manner by Günter Albert, Member of the Conseil d´Administration from Monaco.

Eagerly anticipated, the Dîner de Gala in the hotel’s Paviljonki Restaurant continued the excellence of the previous evening. The menu comprised:
- Duck leg and duck liver terrine with cherries
- Lobster bisque
- Fillet and roasted cheek of veal, with Jerusalem
   artichoke, courgette and shallots
- Cheese with apricot and nut compôte
- Roasted orange pudding with chocolate

On behalf the Bailliage of Turku my sincere thanks go to Inducting Officer Günter Albert, to Juha Ojamo, Bailli Délégué of Finland and the National officers, as well as to the Naantali Spa Hotel staff, all of whom contributed to making this Chapitre one to remember.
