Denmark Dinner

The Bailliage of Selandia held its second event of the year with a visit to the recently-opened restaurant in Rosenborggade, Copenhagen, of brothers James and Adam Price, well-known celebrity television cooks.

The popularity of the event was evident as it was fully booked within a few hours of being announced to the members. Both of the local Bailliages in Denmark as well as National officers were well represented among those attending.

       

The first course was an intensely-flavoured shellfish bisque accompanied by a 2010 Mâcon-Solutré. This was followed by a “real” Cassoulet – with confit du canard, pork, and garlic and pork sausages included in the ingredients. It was accompanied by a suitably full-bodied Gigondas 2008.

The menu was concluded with the Price brothers’ take on an old Danish speciality, Grandmother’s Old-Fashioned Apple dessert, served with a Late-bottled Vintage port from Quinta de Sta. Eufemia.

 

During the evening guests enjoyed the surrounding artwork of which many had been painted by the brothers’ father, actor John Price.

The convivial atmosphere and animated conversation continued late into the evening, facilitated by the friendly and efficient service of the staff.
