China Barbecue

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon members of the Bailliage of Beijing and their guests gathered at the Tang Polo Club in China’s capital city for an afternoon polo exhibition match featuring some of the best Chinese and professional Argentinean players.

Cocktails were served following the match and in true Gaucho-style an Argentinean “asado” dinner was held.

Appetizers included lobster empanadas, “Latin” quiche, cod and spring onion “tempura Argentina”.

The BBQ offered freshly-imported Argentinean sirloin steak as well as skirt steak with chimichurri* and other Argentinean specialties. Of course the delights of Argentina’s desserts ensured that a sweet finish was not in doubt.



Fitting beautifully with the food on offer, Argentinean wines were served. Among them were a Crios de Susana Balbo Malbec and a Crios de Susana Balbo Torrontes.

* Argentinean chimichurri sauce is made with chopped fresh parsley, oregano, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, and red pepper flakes.
