Venezuela Dinner

As this year’s opening of the famous ‘Oktoberfest’ in Munich, Germany, was close to the traditional annual week-end of our Bailliage at the Hotel Selva Negra in Colonia Tovar, we themed our dinner on the event.



 
Following the aperitif in the hotel’s cosy bar, we were escorted to the dining room which was charmingly decorated for the occasion in a Bavarian style. At the entrance there was a Bavarian musician and served by the Master Brewer himself, we were presented with mugs of hand-crafted beer specially made by the local Tovar Brewery.



The ladies of the service brigade were attired in typical Bavarian dresses. The menu started with Oktoberfest Schmankerl (lit. delicacies and treats) as hors d’oeuvres and continued with an excellent Hochzeitssupp’n (lit Wedding soup).




Then we enjoyed roast duck, crispy rolled and stuffed pork shank, potato dumplings and marinated red cabbage with apples. A variety of typical selected desserts from the pastry chef concluded the Bavarian culinary delights.

Immediately after dessert we had the pleasure to welcome the Tovar Dance Group, who performed wonderfully and received a standing ovation. Equally applauded were the Chef together with the Kitchen and Service Brigades who all received Certificates of Appreciation.




The Bavarian musician played favourite melodies into the small hours. Although we were not physically at the Oktoberfest in Munich, we were certainly there in spirit having celebrated the event in style.
