Cocktails at Bless

Bless, a recently-opened restaurant in Guayaquil, hosted 40 Chaîne members and their guests for an informal cocktail reception.

A ‘cocina de autor’ restaurant, the chef/patron of Bless is Peruvian Chef Eduardo Zender who has a wealth of experience from several Ecuadorian restaurants.

Literally meaning ‘Signature cooking’, the term ‘cocina de autor’ is relatively new. For connoisseurs, the fundamentals of the cuisine bring together in a creative symbiosis traditional methods with those of nouvelle cuisine and fusion cooking.

The chef takes the best of each and presents them in a creative way marked by his own style – his signature. Having used innovative methods to deconstruct and reconstruct the ingredients in a completely new way, the chef takes great care with the presentation on the plate in order to give the diner a lively play of colours, textures, shapes and flavours, which will lead to enduring satisfaction.



Given the presence of a significant number of National Bailliage officers, the opportunity was taken at this, the first event of 2013 in Ecuador, to welcome new members who had just joined and to launch the programme of events for the coming months.

It was immediately evident that the schedule for 2013 is ambitious with something planned for each month through to December. For example, there will be multi-course tasting menus, cookery workshops, lectures, and of course, the Annual Chapitre held according to tradition at the Bankers Club in Guayaquil.
