A momentous occasion on two fronts: President Yam Atallah was welcomed with delight as guest of honour on the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Bailliage of Abu Dhabi which was held at the Shangri-la Hotel.

The event started in the sumptuous Presidential Suite with its spectacular backdrop of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Here we enjoyed Champagne Veuve Clicquot with a delightful selection of canapés.



At the Induction Ceremony in the Grand Ballroom, President Atallah inducted 13 new members and promoted five others. There was also a special presentation ceremony for Jeremy Weeks. Jeremy is retiring after 15 years as Bailli Délégué and serving 10 years on the Conseil Magistral. He was presented with the Chaîne’s Gold Award.



The dinner that followed was an amazing feast starting with locally-produced caviar provided by the new sturgeon farm in Abu Dhabi. The freshly-harvested caviar was served on a round of Melba toast over a chilled cucumber soup with pearls of white cucumber. The ‘Yasa Premier Cru’ was a delight to the senses!

Executive Chef Paul Doyle ensured that all the subsequent courses excelled. The well-drilled service brigade was equally superb.



We were very privileged to be supported by Aqua Orbis who provided us with one of their first harvests of caviar. Aqua Orbis is scheduled to become the single largest international production plant by 2016 with a production level of 35 tons annually. This state of the art facility occupies a 60,000 m2 plot and the quality of the product bears testimony of its professional operation.
