Japan Chapitre

The Bailliage of Hokkaido has been established as the fifth local Bailliage in Japan.

The inaugural Chapitre was held at the Sapporo Grand Hotel which was the first hotel to open in Hokkaido in 1934. Klaus Tritschler, Member of the Conseil d’Administration from Germany, presided the Induction Ceremony at which 13 new members including Yoshiro Ito, Chevalier d’Honneur, Norio Ara, Bailli of Hokkaido, and four other Bailliage officers received their Chaîne insignia.


The Executive Chef of the Sapporo Grand Hotel, Tetsuya Koizumi, Vice-Conseiller Culinaire of Hokkaido, prepared a special menu using local produce from the Hokkaido region.

The 30 participants thoroughly enjoyed the rich autumnal harvest from appetizers right through to the desserts; not forgetting the wonderful wines that accompanied each course.
