[Gold Coast] Broadbeach, September 9, 2012

An ‘Indian feast’ event at the Marigold Restaurant in Broadbeach – the latest venture of Gold Coast food icon, Pushbinder Oberoi – was much anticipated by the Bailliage of Gold Coast members and their guests. It was a Sunday lunch with a difference!

The restaurant has been named after the box-office sensation that is the film, The Exotic Marigold Hotel. Dishes from diverse regions of India were presented. Each had a tolerable amount of ‘heat’ via Pushpinder’s astonishing range of curries and spices.




The highlights of the menu were:

- Achari Chicken Tikka - marinated with yoghurt, lime pickle & ginger, served with assorted dips

- Tandoori Chicken n’ Mango Salad 

- Lamb Cutlet ‘Nawabi’ - succulent cutlets marinated in ginger, garlic and mild spices, then grilled in the tandoori oven

- Seafood Bonanza Peri-Peri – a fiery Goan starter

- Pork vindaloo

- Goan prawn curry

- Chicken saagwala – chicken simmered in a thick, mildly-spiced, spinach puree

- Vegetable caldinho – medley of fresh vegetables gently cooked in a creamy ‘gravy’ made with coconut cream


All agreed this was a very different gourmet experience and voted the lunch ‘delicious and delightful’.
