To celebrate the special day the Bailliage organised an all-day outdoor event filled with activities at the only vineyard on the outskirts of Warsaw. Included was a pig roasted whole, original cocktails, horse-drawn carriage riding and an amical pétanque tournament. This was World Chaîne Day à la polonaise!

The unique opportunity to visit the only vineyard in Mazovia (central Poland) was just the beginning of rather unexpected attractions. Échanson Monika Bielka-Vescovi took the lead in Dwórzno vineyard – the hidden treasure of Poland's wine industry.

The tasting of whites and reds made from hybrid varieties was astonishing. No one expected to have a vineyard and a winery on the very doorstep of the country’s capital city. The most surprising taste experience was the raspberry wine for which the whole vinification process complies with normal winemaking standards. The only difference is the fruit.

The main part of the day took place at the Yke Stables equestrian centre nearby. Chancelier Gilles Sebihi was our host at lunch. Before the wild boar terrine, stuffed lamb and various grilled meats prepared by Serbian Chef Goran Milosevic were served, members and guests were welcomed with special drinks prepared by the Bartenders' World Champion title holder and offered by Moët Hennessy/Belvedere.

Drinks made with limited edition Belvedere vodka accompanied every course. The star course served by the master of the grill was a slow-roasted whole pig served with new vegetables.

The beautiful weather encouraged us to prolong the party. Whilst some of the guests participated in sporting activities (the pétanque tournament or badminton) or in a “Le Nez du Vin” scent recognition competition, others enjoyed exploring the rural landscape in horse-drawn carriages. Fuelled by exquisite drinks and desserts, the informal and happy atmosphere continued for many hours.
