A Chef's journey delighted us at Dusit Thani

Executive Chef B. Pathmanathan Balagangdaram invited us to join him on a culinary journey around Asia. Chef Pathma, a Malaysian national, began his professional career at a Penang beach resort. China and Australia followed where he successfully opened two beach resorts. Dusit International took him under its wing to open properties in the Maldives and Abu Dhabi.

With 20 years plus experience in food and its preparation, Chef Pathma has worked in exotic places including Oman, Brunei, Samoa and Fiji’s Denarau Island. Before joining Dusit Thani Pattaya, he was the Executive Chef at Shangri-La Ulan Bator in Mongolia.

Beautifully-decorated tables awaited us at the resort’s Bay Restaurant. Bailli Provincial Peter Windgasse welcomed Dr Roger Palmer and Noopha Palmer (members from the Bailliage of Hawaii in the USA), Ian Lancaster (Bailli of Phuket) and Per Bentzon from Norway. A special welcome went to Karl Madl and Voraphol Inmee, two 18-year old Chaîne newcomers who represent a new generation of young people interested in the culture of the table.

To set the scene we enjoyed walk-around bites with a South African sparkling wine.
