Rick Stehr from the Landgoed Hotel / Restaurant Carelshaven in Delden has won the Bailliage’s 2018 National Final of the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition. He works at Carelshaven under the direction of Chef Daniel Nijkamp.

Runner-up was Wouter Braam from the Michelin 1-star Restaurant de Heeren van Harinxma at the Landgoed Lauswolt in Beetsterzwaag, under the leadership of Chef Arjan Bisschop.

Third Place went to Ralph Benneker, working at Landhuishotel de Bloemenbeek in De Lutte, also awarded with a Michelin star and the restaurant where Michel Oude Booijink, winner of the 2017 Final, works.
 
The competition was held at the Leerhotel het Klooster in Amersfoort and was made possible by generous sponsorship offered by the Leerhotel het Klooster, Sligro, Pabst & Pabst, Rungis, Koppert Cress, Siegert, Hurricane and Wüsthof Knives.

The young, enthusiastic participants were presented with the traditional ‘black box’ of ingredients, with which a three-course menu for four people had to be put together.

An expert jury consisting of Bailli Délégué Honoraire Cees Dorland, Bailli Honoraire Mario Blom,  Bailli Maarten Westerhof and culinary specialist Jolanda van der Jagt judged the dishes on presentation, originality and taste.

The award ceremony took place during a dinner organized by the Leerhotel Het Klooster at which 61 members and guests participated. Preparation and service was done by students and staff of the Leerhotel. It was an excellent dinner which made for a perfect end to a very successful day.

Rick Stehr will now take part in the International Final of the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition which will take place on September 7th in Taiwan.
