The Chaîne in Tanzania was formally inaugurated with elegance and style befitting the association’s reputation.

The Kibo Ballroom of the 5-star Hyatt Regency Hotel ‘The Kilimanjaro’ saw 88 guests witness the induction of 28 new members by Stephan Duyck, Member of the Conseil Magistral from Uganda.

Prior to the day of the Chapitre there had been a number of briefings and tastings with the Hyatt’s Chef, Stefan Matz, not forgetting careful consideration of the wine pairings.

On the day, guests arrived early evening and were each greeted in person by Bailli Délégué Hatim Karimjee and Inducting Officer Stephan Duyck. At the reception Veuve Clicquot champagne was enjoyed with canapes and bruschettas. It was then the moment – at 7pm exactly – for everyone to take their seats for the Ceremony.

The Inducting Officer’s procession was led in by Chargé des Missions Basil Gadzios and Chargée de Presse Sarah Scott carrying the ceremonial swords. The entourage took to the stage for the speeches of welcome, the oath was taken and the inductions commenced.

The rehearsals that morning paid off as the ceremony flowed flawlessly with everyone being treated to an impressive occasion.

For the dinner, the seven course banquet presented by Chef Matz was introduced by Argentier Filip Tack.

At the end of the evening special thanks were given to the hotel’s management, to Chef Stephan Matz, and to the staff members of the outstanding kitchen and service brigades.

The warm appreciation continued with an enthusiastic vote of thanks to Stephan Duyck, accompanied by his lovely wife Emily, for his experience and guidance ensuring that this first induction event in the history of the Bailliage of Tanzania was held in the finest traditions of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
