France Grand Chapitre

Bailliage of France
Bordeaux, September 20-22, 2018

Three days of conviviality

At the beginning of autumn, we enjoyed three days of conviviality on the initiative of the Bailliage of France (Laurent Grenier de Cardenal, Bailli Délégué) and the Bailliage of Bordelais. On each occasion magic was created by the hands of exceptional Maîtres Rôtisseurs. From around twenty countries 140 members declared it was a great decision to attend. In unison their desire to share and transmit the centuries-old values of the Brotherhood of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs was absolutely evident.

The programme began on Thursday 20th with a Master Rum presentation accompanied by a tasting followed by the “Welcome” dinner.

On Friday 21st came the opportunity for one group to visit a “Grand cru” château in St Émilion as well as the town itself. Meanwhile the other group went to Cap Ferret for a visit including tasting oysters in an oyster village followed by a meal on the shore of the Bay of Arcachon.

The evening’s activity was a cruise on the River Garonne that took us to a restaurant on the banks of the river before ending the evening with a tour of the illuminated frontages of the Bordeaux quays, a UNESCO world heritage site.

The week-end culminated with the Gala Induction Evening in the salons of Bordeaux City Hall - the Palais Rohan. The Ceremony was presided over by Arlette Mabardi, Member of the Conseil Magistral from Lebanon. Included on the list was Alain Juppé, Mayor of Bordeaux, receiving his Chevalier d’honneur ribbon.
