A German national, Chef Jens Heier brings to the 457-room Dusit Thani Pattaya Hotel over 25 years’ worth of experience and passion in the culinary profession.

He began his culinary career in 1986 as a trainee at Romantik Hotel “Löwe” in Schwetzingen, Germany. Since then he has worked in Michelin-starred fine dining restaurants such as “Villa Fayence” in Saarlouis/Wallerfangen (1 star Michelin), Restaurant “Tantris” in Munich (2 star Michelin), Restaurant “Bamberger Reiter” in Berlin (1 star Michelin).

In 2002, he decided to experience the gourmet evolution in Asia where he found his niche excelling in South Korea, Vietnam, China and Thailand. Chef Jens worked in the corporate office of the Onyx Hospitality Group as Culinary Director in charge of corporate operations for all Onyx Group properties in Asia.

At the Dusit Thani Pattaya, Chef Jens oversees all aspects of the culinary operations of the hotel’s three restaurants, a gourmet bakery, two pool bars and two lounges. Furthermore he is a major influence in the hotel’s outside catering business.

His work has been recognized with two prestigious awards – in Germany two years running as Chef of the Year for his outstanding contemporary Pan-Asian cuisine and in South Korea in 2003 for his contemporary French cuisine.

Chef Jens believes that simplicity in creating dishes is the ultimate challenge.

He added “To be a chef is not just a job, it is a mission to create with passion. A good chef needs to have interaction with the guests. To be a successful chef means you have to know what your guests want to eat tomorrow!”
