Bailliage of Gironde, France
Bommes, October 5, 2019

At Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey
" The Lafaurie-Peyraguey vineyard is located in the midst of the Sauternes region "

On a lovely sunny day in early autumn, the Bordeaux Bailliage spent a wonderful day in the heart of the Sauternes region, experiencing a fusion of gold and crystal at the Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey. It’s known for its Lalique restaurant and for having a Sauternes Premier Grand Cru ranked in the 1855 classification.

The Lafaurie-Peyraguey vineyard is located in the midst of the Sauternes region, on a high gravelly terrace. Bought in 2014 by Silvio Denz, Chairman and CEO of Lalique and owner of five wineries in Bordeaux, the Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey re-opened its doors to begin a new chapter in 2018.

Reimagined as a luxury hotel which is home to a fine-dining restaurant, Lalique is designed to be “a place where four worlds converge: wine, crystal, gastronomy and hospitality, because these areas of creativity have a common purpose,” explains Silvio Denz.

Our group, led by the Bailli Délégué of France, Jean-François Guichard, was composed of some forty members from many different Bailliages in France as well as from the Principality of Monaco, including its Bailli Délégué, Gérard Canarie. Our day began with a tour of the Château's facilities, after which our group sat down for an exquisite meal prepared by Michelin-starred chef Jérôme Schilling, in a very impressive setting. The service was faultless, and the courses were perfectly paired with carefully selected wines.
