Lebanon - Serge Ghazarian

Bailliage of Lebanon

A Maître Rôtisseur supporting medical professionals
" People with great passion can make the impossible happen "

Chef Serge Ghazarian may have only joined the Chaîne as a Maître Rôtisseur in August 2019 but he is clearly entering into the spirit of camaraderie and goodwill that as we know is a cornerstone of the Confrérie’s ethos.

Two months after joining the Chaîne, Serge had the great honour of being inducted by President Atallah during the Grand Chapitre of Lebanon in Beirut - an event which had to be curtailed given significant demonstrations which shut down the country for several days.

Following an e-mail of support sent to Bailli Délégué Arlette Mabardi during the current challenging times for us all, both professionally and personally, to give an example of what is happening in the Bailliage of Lebanon she contacted Chef Serge who sent in some photos illustrating his contribution towards showing solidarity with NGOs and medical staff.

Working out of his restaurant, Villa Badaro in Beirut, Chef Serge is preparing meals for those “on the frontline” just like chefs in many other countries. He has also organised a “Cooking for a cause” event at the restaurant. Everything prepared went to support families in need.

Serge said, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. I have been cooking in kitchens for years, but this time it is different!! When you cook, not to satisfy customer expectations but to feed people in need in this critical situation, that's how cooking is love made visible.”

Remaining very optimistic, he continued, “Your life only gets better when you DO. Work on yourself and the rest will follow. Be strong, because things will get better. It may be stormy now, but it never rains forever.

People with great passion can make the impossible happen. Keep looking up, that's the secret of life! Better days are coming, wait ... and be ready.”

Well done, Serge … and well said!
