Breaking for summer on a high
" The Crowne Plaza Hotel served a superb menu "

The Bailliage ended its culinary season before the summer holidays with a Gala Dinner at the residence of His Excellency Carlo Baldocci, Ambassador for Italy to Kuwait, and his wife Christiana. HE Baldocci, who is a Chevalier d’Honneur member of the Chaîne, has been in post as Ambassador since September 2019.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel served a superb menu. A very elegant table setting matching the beautiful design of the residence was created. The scene was set with an artistically presented “Mosaico die Pesce” inspired by Chef Lucas’ hometown Venice.

An Italian dinner without pasta? Impossible! Hence our “raviolini agli spinacci” with truffle-flavoured Molinterno cheese* and a creamy capsicum sauce topped by a quail egg. It was a delicious so summery creation for our pasta dish.

[*Ed. Produced from sheep’s milk on the island of Sardinia, Molinterno is matured for 60 days before the addition of black truffle paste creating a unique cheese.]

We continued with “duetto di crostaci” which was followed by our palate cleanser “sorbetto all mela verde” with a cinnamon veil. The foregoing prepared us for the main course “madaglioni di Angus” (Angus beef fillet) in a porcini powder and cardamom sauce with creamed potatoes. The finale was a “sinfonia di sapori” - a tribute to Italian desserts”.

The attendees experienced an elegant tasteful dinner, accompanied by live violin music. Italian cuisine at its finest set the mood for vacations.
