Exploring The Macallan Double Cask range
" The surprise of the night came with dessert "

It was an intimate evening, full of camaraderie and knowledge about the world of whisky. The exceptional quality and distinctive character of The Macallan whisky was presented by Dame de la Chaîne Ileana Hernández Onofre.

Ileana is the brand's ambassador in Mexico. She took us through an intimate tasting event of The Macallan Double Cask Range at D’Frank in Midtown Guadalajara with 20 members in attendance.

When you drink a good whisky, there are two things to consider: sharing it with good company and with good food. What you eat with it makes all the difference. The labels were accompanied by an exquisite menu, using ingredients that supported the tasting notes, curated by Chef Rôtisseur Franck Delage.

After being received with a welcoming cocktail and while enjoying the arrival and company of the attendees, the tasting experience began. The always easy to appreciate The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old partnered the tuna tartare first course.

While Ileana informed us about the processes and history of the brand, we tasted The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old accompanied by fried baby squid. Lastly, The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old which was paired with a fillet of beef Rossini in moreita sauce. [Ed. The sauce is made out of dried peppers that are gently fried and then ground to form the base. It excels with beef and is said to “light up your mouth”.]

The surprise of the night came with dessert. Bailli Gabriel Pérez shared with us a very special, novelty bottle of The Macallan The Harmony Collection Rich Cacao. [Ed. An exceptionally rich single malt whisky characterised by its deep, dark chocolate profile coming from the use of a harmonious combination of European and American oak casks.] It splendidly accompanied our creme brûlée and chocolate volcano.

The exceptional Macallan oak barrels are the biggest contributor to their excellent quality, natural colours, distinctive aromas and flavours and enjoying them with good friends was what made this a truly unique evening.
