Golf competition, lunch, and dinner at The Sands at Nomad

World Chaîne Day 2016 was celebrated in great style with a golf competition followed by a lunch on the beach at The Sands at Nomad.

A huge “thank you” was made for the generous donations of top prizes for the golf competition to Shehnai Restaurant, Neptune Beach Hotel, The Sands at Nomad and Leopard Beach Hotel.

Those not staying overnight had arrived in time for lunch in an air-conditioned Ketty Tours bus provided by Chevalier Shamsheer Majwi.

Celebrations continued with chilled Nederberg Lyric and canapes at Nomad’s Executive Villa before proceeding to an exceptional yet informal dinner at The Sails Restaurant in Almanara Resort. Everyone was warmly welcomed at the reception by General Manager Richard Glaser and Claudia Glaser.

Against a breath-taking background of endless, pristine South Coast beach, we were treated to a classic Kenyan “Dawa”1 cocktail and Prosecco.

Claudia’s trade mark touches to the decor included subtly-incorporated Chaîne colours and logos. The variety and presentation of food was truly awesome! Our compliments to Swiss-born Chef Andrea Poggi were heartfelt.

The magical atmosphere was further enhanced by excellent live jazz music performed by our very own long-standing member Phillippe Zimmerlin, with guests Alessia Rossi and Justin Walters.

The Sands at Nomad is a popular destination every year for us as it is an informal event where children are welcome. We are honoured and excited by the invitation on July 9th to the grand opening of the newly-refurbished The Sands at Chale Island.

We look forward to continuing our close relationship with The Sands at Nomad for many years to come!

1 A mixture of vodka, lime juice and honey garnished with a lime wheel and a ‘Dawa Stick’ to stir the honey. Commonly referred to as Dawa, which is derived from the Swahili word meaning “medicine”, it makes for a refreshing cocktail that allegedly will cure whatever ails you!
