Our annual Gala Induction event was held in the Dulang Suite of the Malaysian Petroleum Club in the iconic Petronas Towers, a world-class fine-dining outlet named after an oil field off Malaysia’s north-eastern coast.  It was attended by 78 members and guests.

Twelve members were either promoted or inducted by Datuk Dr Jagjit Singh Sambhi in his capacity as a Member of the Conseil Magistral.

The 42nd floor’s sprawling hall offers sublime views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline: the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks. As evening fell, the gorgeous cityscape unfolded majestically, plated in rich bronze and gold veneer. Subtle melodies drifting dreamily from the grand piano added to the merriment of the evening.

Exquisite ice-cravings, elegant table settings created a surreal, exciting atmosphere with superb fine cuisine, premium wines, and impeccable service throughout. Warm camaraderie added to the grandeur of a wonderful, unforgettable evening - one for the memories.

The menu was created by Chef Richmond Lim, Officier Maître Rôtisseur, and his team of talented chefs. Described as ‘out of this world’, truffle-infused abalone capellini with seaweed and fresh peach, redcurrant mousse with raspberry and ice cream had rave reviews. After-drinks with colourful popping candies were a great hit.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the fifth annual ‘Excellence in Dining’ award in honour of the late Bailli Délégué, Dato Lau Foo Sun.  To’ Puan Chit Wha Lau presented the award to the joint-winning establishments, the Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur Hotel and the DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur. A further highlight was the prize presentation to Amelia Ng of Hotel Istana, the 2016 National Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition winner, as well as to the young chefs who came second and third.

At the Gala Dinner a eulogy was given by Bailli Délégué Datuk Dr Jagjit Singh Sambhi for the founder Bailli of Putrajaya, Mr K K Rajah, who passed away suddenly on August 12th.
