'echo' oozes Italian charm

“Don’t hold back!” - there is no limit on time for the pleasure of the table, was the message from Maître Hotelier Rohan Karr, ‎ Sector Head of City Hotels, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and General Manager of the Cinnamon Grand.

It is said that no other meal is as appealing to the soul as a leisurely brunch spent in the company of likeminded Friends. So it was on that late August Saturday when Rohan with his able team meticulously choreographed a ‘Gourmet Trip’ to capture the culinary magic of the different regions of Italy.

Seventy Chaîne Members, and their guests, gathered at Colombo’s well-known Italian Restaurant “echo” to enjoy such Italophile  favourites as Parma ham on its pedestal (cut by knife), a live station of mussels prepared in three different ways, a carving station of  roast wild boar and endless other specialities.

An assortment of one’s all time popular desserts – panna cotta or cassata made a grand finale. With spoilt-for-choice moments as we were tempted by a whole host of other unusual Italian inspired ‘Sweet Temptations’.

As much as the food was enjoyed we appreciated free-flowing perfectly chilled Prosecco and Italian Pinot Grigio with an excellent Italian Merlot to follow.

We paid tribute to Executive Chef Dirk Heinen, Italian Chef Riccardo Dell' Ascenza and indeed to the entire Cinnamon Grand team.
