Tanzania Chapitre

Bailliage of Tanzania
Dar es Salaam, November 19, 2016

'Midnight in Paris'
" It was a historic moment with the three East African Bailli Délégués (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda) together for the first time "

The Bailliage’s second Chapitre was held at the Hyatt Regency Kilimanjaro Hotel with 90 members and guests participating. The hotel’s Ballroom and Lobby were decorated with the theme of “Midnight in Paris”. Appropriate music was provided by the Dar Jazz Band.

Elegant evening gowns and black tie attire made for a great match with the evening’s theme. The guest of honour was Stephan Duyck, Member of the Conseil Magistral from Uganda (where he is Bailli Délégué), who was the Inducting Officer appointed by President Yam Atallah.

Other VIPs in attendance were Norbert Simon, Bailli Délégué of Austria, also a Member of the Conseil Magistral and Mrs Shabnam Nayer, Bailli Délégué of Kenya. It was a historic moment with the three East African Bailli Délégués (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda) together for the first time.

The Chapitre began with a reception featuring Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial Champagne and canapes. We then gathered in the Ballroom where the Induction ceremony for 17 new members was conducted in the traditional manner.

The five-course banquet, prepared by Hyatt Executive Chef Stephan Matz and his brigade, included a confit of jumbo prawn followed by beef tartare, pan-fried snapper fillet, braised leg of lamb and a dazzling array of desserts to conclude. A five-course vegetarian menu was also offered. Wines from New Zealand, South Africa, France and Spain accompanied each course. Conseiller Culinaire Nadine Atallah introduced the courses and Bailli Délégué Hatim Karimjee introduced the wines.

The banquet ended with Certificates of Appreciation being awarded to the kitchen brigade, the service staff and the hotel management. The party continued into the early hours with dancing to the Dar Jazz Band.
