First ever lawyer to complete a doctorate in tourism
Fernando Messias, Bailli of Greater Lisbon and a lawyer by profession, has completed a PhD in Tourism with a thesis entitled “Leadership and well-being: the case of five-star hospitality in the Algarve”.
The Public Examination of the Doctoral Thesis took place at the Faculty of Economics, University of Algarve, before a specialized jury in the technical area of the doctoral thesis composed by Professors João Albino Silva Matos (Jury President), Marco Antonio Robledo Camacho, Saul Neves de Jesus, Fernando José Vieira Cardoso de Sousa, Júlio da Costa Mendes, Ileana Androniu Pardal Monteiro, Helena Rodrigues Guita de Almeida and João José da Silva Pissara.
Fernando is the first ever lawyer to complete a doctorate in tourism in the technical scientific field of Organizational Psychology. In preparing his thesis he was supervised by Professors Julio da Costa Mendes and Ileana Androniu Pardal Monteiro.
