On the recommendation of our confrère and good friend Sonsoles Vallina we visited the “Bvlgari and Rome” exhibition in the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

This wonderful exhibition was staged from November 30, 2016, to March 5, 2017, so we were just in time to see it.

“Bulgari and Rome” revealed how the art and architecture of classical and modern Rome have been the source of inspiration for Maison Bvlgari’s designers over the past few decades.

The exhibition included a selection of works from the Bvlgari Heritage Collection that demonstrated the subtle relationships between the jewels and the paintings, prints and Roman monuments which have inspired them.

The pieces inset with cabochons that recreate the city’s domes, the glitter of the gold (white or yellow) which recalls the splendour of Baroque volutes, and the geometrical designs that reflect the pure lines of the ruins are some of the details that express Bvlgari’s homage to the Eternal City.

Prior to the visit, Bailli Délégué Rosa Román organized a brunch at the Hotel Ritz Madrid in collaboration with its General Manager, Bailli Provincial Christian Tavelli, who is always looking for a reason to be proactive in our Bailliage. As always the quality of the cuisine and the standard of service were unbeatable.

It was a lovely day out. We had an unforgettable time enjoying both the brunch and such a beautiful exhibition.
