Norway National Finals

Bailliage of Norway
Oslo, March 26, 2017

Nine and five competed for first places to represent Norway

The Bailliage of Oslo hosted the National Finals of the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs and Jeunes Sommeliers Competitions for 2017. Both were held at Lærlingcompaniet.

Nine young chefs made it through from regional heats to compete for first place in the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs competition. Five young sommeliers arrived from Bailliages throughout Norway having won their heats to take part in their national final.

The Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs jury was Jørn Lie (leader of the national team), Kjetil Gundersen and Geir Magnus Svae.Competition was stiff and the jury had much deliberating to do to come to their decision. However, after much discussion they decided that the winner was Torkil Helmersen from Scandic Nidelven in Trondheim. Runner up was Fredrik Log from Charles & De in Sandnes with Rolf Arne Jørgensen, from To Rom og Kjøkken in Trondheim, in Third Place.

For the Jeunes Sommeliers Competition it was a close call between the competitors. The jury (Merete Bø, Liora Levi and Magnus Egerdahl Nørsett) certainly had a tough time coming to their conclusion. In the end though the outcome was clear and the winner was announced as Henrik Dahl Jahnsen from Bølgen & Moi in Kristiansand. The Runner up was Mathias Toresen from Oslo Militære Samfund and Third Place was awarded to Marius Kristiansen from Vaaghals.

We are delighted to have two such excellent young people, Torkil Helmersen and Henrik Dahl Jahnsen, to represent Norway internationally at the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs and Jeunes Sommeliers Competitions in September – in Frankfurt-am-Main and Budapest respectively.
