'A Night in Paris'

“A Night in Paris” was the theme of this year’s gala induction event. The fairy tale-like evening started in the garden of the Grand Victoria Hotel in the Neihu section of Taipei. In this lovely surrounding, we inducted our newest members and promoted our long-standing ones.

The Induction Ceremony was followed by a reception which enabled members and their guests to mingle in the garden meeting old friends and making new acquaintances.

Our confrère, Maître Rôtisseur Thomas Chiu, and his team created an excellent dinner which took us on a tour to different districts of the “City of Light” reminding us as each course unfolded what it would be like to be in Paris. The accordionist who strolled from table to table did the same by serenading us with his Parisian melodies.

A highlight of the evening was the Award Ceremony announcing the winners of this year’s National Final of the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition which had taken place in Taipei two days before our gala event.

We were delighted to have the presence of Bailli Provincial Honoraire Alessandro Haab from the Bailliage of Thailand. Given his credentials as a top-class chef for many years Alessandro was the ideal choice as Head Judge for the competition. Prior to announcing the names of the 1-2-3, he gave a short review of the history of the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs.

With the winners announced and presentations made, the party shifted into high gear with the last guests not leaving until the very early hours of the morning.
