OMGD China Tasting Dinner

Bailliage of China
Beijing, July 15, 2017

'Andalusian nights' themed event at Migas Mercado

Beijing's OMGD members and guests welcomed the 2017 summer season with a homage to Andalusia and its great sherry wines.

Chef Miguel Casal Zapata, a native of Andalusia and now the Executive Chef of Migas Mercado Beijing, was our culinary guide for the evening.

For our beverages, we selected various styles of sherry, from a lightly golden Manzanilla with aromas of ocean spray and green olives, to a mahogany-coloured Oloroso and black PX (Pedro Ximénez), the latter being two boldly-structured sherries of great depth and concentration.

Chef Miguel's multi-course dinner was a modern, artful take on Spanish tapas, inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Andalusia's coastal towns. All his inventive dishes were paired with six styles of Sherry wines that showcased the versatility and range of Andalusia's most famous beverage:

- Bodegas La Cigarrera "Manzanilla" Palomino Fino, Sanlúcar de Barrameda
- Bodegas Grant "Fino" Palomino Fino, El Puerto de Santa María
- Bodegas Urium "Palo Cortado" Palomino Fino, Jerez
- Bodegas Dios Baco "Amontillado" Palomino Fino, Jerez
- Bodegas Grant La Garrocha "Oloroso" Palomino Fino, Jerez
- Bodegas Dios Baco 1970 "PX" (Pedro Ximénez), Jerez

We look forward to a return engagement with the OMGD Beijing in 2018 when we revisit Andalusia and its great artistic treasures.

“Muchas gracias” to Chef Miguel, Maria Dominguez, Izaskun Escribano and the Migas Mercado team, as well as Monica Zhou of Talentum Trading for their great work and valuable support of the OMGD Beijing!

Vive la Chaîne!
