Kuwait Dinner

Bailliage of Kuwait
Kuwait City, September 23, 2017

Hosted by Her Excellency the Canadian Ambassador

Following the summer break the Bailliage held its first gala dinner of the season at the residence of Her Excellency the Ambassador of Canada, Martine Moreau. The opportunity was taken to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada’s existence as a Confederation.

Having gained an MBA from Montreal University, Martine Moreau worked for Ernst and Young before joining Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. Holding progressively more senior assignments including Trade Commissioner and Director of European Union Commercial Relations and Advocacy, it was a natural segue for her to be appointed as Ambassador to Kuwait.

The JW Marriott Hotel showcased a superb, delicious and very rich menu in which Canadian lobster and scallops took the lead role centre stage.

The menu started with smoked salmon rolled with homemade herbed cheese and accompanied by overnight poached balsamic figs and raspberry jelly vinaigrette.

There followed by a méli-mélo of baby Canadian scallop, capsicum confetti, caramelized pink peppercorn, endives and red mash.

Starring for the main course was crusted Angus beef and Canadian lobster with saffron scented potato in thyme jus.

Then a dessert buffet surprised us with sweet indulgence, beautifully and artistically presented, highlighting the delightful taste of Canadian maple syrup – of course!

A dinner full of flavours, a celebration of delectable Canadian components and a lovely atmosphere with live music accompanying the proceedings all combined to create an amazing start to our culinary season.

As a result, anticipation is certainly high regarding what delights await us as our culinary adventures unfold.

Vive la Chaîne!
