The most beautiful banquet room in Norway

The venue for our Gala dinner at Oslo’s Grand Hotel was the refurbished Rococo Room, probably the most beautiful banquet room in Norway.

The original painted ceiling, which was destroyed by fire in 1957, inspired the renovation of the Rococo Room hence the new classic painted ceiling. The walls are decorated with Italian textiles from Rubelli. Peter van de Ent masterminded the beautiful plaster decorations and Axel Dahlgren created the ceiling paintings. The original Venetian chandeliers are still in place and shinning brighter than ever.

Our honoured guest, Managing Director Fredrikke Næss, together with Bailli Helle Cathrine Amundsen, welcomed us all. We enjoyed a Champagne Ruinart Blanc de blancs aperitif in the lounge. Chef Alex Raby and Food & Beverage Manager Pia Loe Syversen, Maître Restaurateur, presented the menu.

We were fortunate to have five Baillis from Oslo present at this special evening, in addition to three Baillis Délégués. Vice-Conseiller Gastronomique Honoraire Leif Kristian Sverstad gave the appreciation to the kitchen and service brigades.

In a special ceremony Bailli Délégué Thore Sande and Bailli Délégué Honoraire Rolf Brænd presented Commandeur and Officier Commandeur Awards.

The Bailliage of Oslo thanked the Grand Hotel for a wonderful and very successful event. There was an exquisite atmosphere in the venerable Rococo Room. We received incredible food with perfectly matched wines and the service was excellent – what more can one ask!
