The Bailliage of Germany invites you to its 92nd Grand Chapitre which is being held in the historic town of Regensburg.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the medieval centre of the city is testimony of the city's status in the Middle Ages as the cultural centre of southern Germany. In recent years the city is among the top sights and travel attractions in Germany.

The programme for the three days includes outstanding locations such as the Walhalla where there is an array of busts of famous Germans representing literature, music or poetry. Another gem is the Benedictine Weltenburg Abbey, one of the oldest monasteries in Germany.

If this is not enough history, join us for the Induction Ceremony in Regensburg Town Hall which dates from the 13th century. From 1663 to 1806 it is where the Perpetual Imperial Assembly met in the Imperial Chamber and from which the expressions “to put something on the long bench” (i.e. to postpone something) and “to sit at the green table” (i.e. to take important decisions) originated.

During the Grand Chapitre you can stay in a hotel built on Roman foundations and eat the famous sausages in the oldest kitchen which is next to the first stone bridge built across the River Danube.
