Thanks to the initiative of Elena Escribano, Bailli of Madrid, a dinner was organised at La Taberna de O’Donnell (O’Donnell’s Tavern) to share and enjoy one of the values we are most passionate about: gastronomy.

With 2017 coming to an end it was the perfect time to enjoy an evening among friends. Continuing to show support for our active member establishments, the event was held at a restaurant run by our friend and confrère, Vice-Chancelier Daniel Prieto.

La Taberna de O’Donnell is very close to the Madrid’s Retiro Park, the leisure and recreational centre of the Spanish capital. The restaurant’s appearance was inspired by the Modernism of the early Twenties. It is a place with two well-defined areas. The lower floor reflects a more informal snacking atmosphere. On the other hand the upper floor is the restaurant, more intimate and formal, where we enjoyed a beautiful evening.

In this charismatic setting, we connected with friends who had not met for several reasons. It was a joy to catch up on events during the year.

Everything was conceived and designed so that the evening was unrivalled. The details at the table were a prelude to the approaching Christmas celebration. Even the design of the menus gave a characteristic nod to the imminent festivities.

Before dinner was served, Bailli Elena and Christian Tavelli, Bailli Provincial of Madrid, gave brief welcome speeches each remembering the core values of the Chaîne.

The dishes we tasted lived up to expectations. We certainly witnessed at first hand the style and professionalism of the kitchen as well as the precision service in the dining room.

The evening ended with a dance and a karaoke where the most daring gave free rein to their artistic gifts in an environment of friendship and fraternity.
