World Chaîne Day 2018 Photo Competition

April 21, 2018

Guidelines and rules

It is essential that all photos are taken during a 2018 World Chaîne Day event. The exact date of the event this year is Saturday, April 21, 2018. However, as we have different time zones, it is acknowledged that the photo can be taken at an event during that weekend, i.e. between Friday 20th and Sunday 22nd, although for preference it should be taken on Saturday 21st.

The photographer does not need to be Chaîne member but as stipulated above, it is essential that photos are taken at a readily identifiable World Chaîne Day event be it formal or informal.

Participation will be through photos posted on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. It is important to mark the pictures with one or more of these hashtags: #chaineday, #worldchaineday, #chainedesrotisseurs. This ensures that the Jury will be able to select potentially winning photos from the social media feed.

There’s no need to especially send or note pictures for the competition. The Jury will go through all the material on the World Chaîne Day Social Media Wall.

However, if you are not using social media, you can still participate by sending your photos by email to: [email protected].

The Jury will go through unmarked and the World Chaîne Day material as part of the process to find potential winners for shortlisting.

The best three photos will be awarded a certificate, the presentation and announcement of which will bring reputation, merit, title and publicity for the photographer!

In addition to best three photos, the Jury will give special recognition to the:
- best food photo
- most joyful view
- best “Chaîne professionals at work” image

Last year 2017 we had lots of wonderful photos nicely expressing the values of the Chaîne and spotlighting activities during the World Chaîne Day. A very important value in photography is capturing the genuine feeling of the moment. This was also truly present in many photos considered last year and in the Jury’s view, was especially evident in those selected as winners.

This year, we are confident of seeing further high quality, astonishing material just like we did in 2017. It could well be that the participating images will “raise the bar” even higher!

The Jury* starts work immediately after the World Chaîne Day weekend and as soon as we have reached consensus, the winners will be announced. Diplomas will be given in person to the winners during AGM weekend in Paris in June or, if the winner is not present, they will be posted to the respective National Bailliage to be presented during a Chaîne event.

This year, dear members, surprise us, go beyond our expectations and create something unforgettable.

Good luck!
