China Chapitre

Bailliage of Chengdu, China
Chengdu, December 9, 2017

Sell-out event attracted members from far and wide

This ceremonious event was held at the Marriott Hotel Financial Centre in downtown Chengdu. Situated on Tianfu Avenue the hotel has a stately poise fit for the metropolitan business world.

The Marriott’s design was inspired by the streets and alleys of Chengdu and is intended to symbolize local culture. Materials with bold textures such as ginkgo tree, bamboo and items commonly seen in alleys such as bricks, roof tiles and stones are placed side by side with exquisite attention to details to conjure an upscale yet low key ambiance.

After the Induction Ceremony, Champagne Mumm ‘Cordon Rouge’ NV was served at the reception accompanied by a wonderful selection of finger food:
- Siberian caviar with sour cream, chive, herb pancake and baguette
- Smoked salmon roll with cream cheese and dill
- Honeydew melon with Parma ham
- Buffalo cheese stuffed tomato
- Freshly-shucked oyster with lemon and cocktail sauce

The dinner was limited to 60 seats which were very quickly filled. Not only the venue but also the charm of Executive Chef Frank Deng and his exceptional cuisine brought every guest an unforgettable memory.

Chef Deng is an experienced chef who is fascinated by culinary arts and is deeply passionate about the subject. During the dinner, he enthusiastically introduced the dishes on the seven-course menu.

In the coming year, we will bring further diverse and exciting food events for the Bailliage’s Chaîne and Ordre Mondial (OMGD) members and their friends. We very much believe that Chengdu will be thriving and robust under the leadership of Bailli Alfred Li.

Vive La Chaîne!
