The Bailliage held another fabulous dinner at the residence of the Ambassador of Brazil, His Excellency Norton de Andrade Mello Rapesta.

The “Brazilian experience” was most interesting. The Hilton Resort Hotel which catered for the occasion created a delightful and representative Brazilian menu together with wonderful information about Rio de Janeiro.

We learnt that it translates into “River of January”. Also known as the “Cidade Maravilhosa” (English: “the marvellous city”), Rio is famous for its natural beauty and has been immortalized in Bossa Nova songs like “The girl from Ipanema”.

All this was printed on the colourful menu. Additional information was included on the flamboyant Carnival, the largest mural artwork in the world, the Samba dance, the “Cristo Redentor” (the famous Christ statue), the vegetation, history and much more.

Members and guests experienced highlights of the Brazilian cuisine:
- avocado and fruit timbale, chili dots, baby spinach
- shrimps meeting pumpkin in the “Camarao-na Moranga”
- braised short ribs with kidney bean puree, polenta and wild mushroom sauce
- dessert was a marvellous surprise

All in all it was delicious and fascinating event full of tastes, flavours and knowledge making it a unique Brazilian evening, therefore certainly one to be remembered.
