Finland Winter Chapitre

Bailliage of Tampère, Finland
Tampere, December 15, 2017

Celebrating Finland's 100 years of independence

Our winter Chapitre was held in the Suomalainen Klubi (English: Finnish Club), a Chaîne-member establishment.

Finland became an independent state on December 6, 1917. Baron Carl Gustaf Mannerheim, Marshal of Finland (and later the sixth President of Finland from 1944-1946), was one of the crucial people at that time.

The Club’s Mannerheim Room was the perfect place for holding the Induction Ceremony presided over by our own Ari-Pekka Parviainen, Member of the Conseil d’Administration and Conseiller Gastronomique. He inducted 40 new members all of whom naturally were honoured to have received their Chaîne ribbons at such a special event.

An excellent dinner was later served in the Tampella Restaurant located right by the Tammerkoski rapids. It is the very place where in 1882 electric light was switched on for the first time in the Nordic countries.

Chef Rôtisseur Lasse Niemelä created a wonderful menu in honour of Finland’s 100 years of independence.

Furthermore, it was at this dinner that we also began the celebration of our Bailliage of Tampere’s Golden Jubilee. What an excellent event to start our year of festivities!
